Jasper Pride Film Screening & Discussion


Join us at the Jasper Pride & Ski Festival for a special FREE screening of Pride vs. Prejudice: The Delwin Vriend Story on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 3-5pm at the Jasper Municipal Library.

Screening to be followed by a special Q&A with Senator Dr. Kristopher Wells and guests.

LGBT+ Film Festival Poland


Pride vs. Prejudice: The Delwin Vriend Story, the acclaimed documentary chronicling a landmark Canadian human rights case, has been invited for an eight-city screening tour across Poland from April 4–18, 2025. This initiative is made possible at the invitation of the Canadian Embassy in Poland and the 2025 LGBT+ Film Festival Poland, with screenings set to take place in Warsaw, Gdansk, Konin, Lodz, Szczecin, Wroclaw, Krakow, and Poznan.

Queergestreift Film Festival in Germany


Pride vs. Prejudice: The Delwin Vriend Story will screen for the first time in Germany on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 5pm as part of the Queergestreift Film Festival.

YEG Campus Pride Week

Pride vs Prejudice: Reception, Film & Panel


The University of Alberta, Faculty of Law is very excited to be hosting "Pride vs Prejudice: Reception, Film & Panel" on Tuesday, March 11, to celebrate Pride Week at the University of Alberta and MacEwan University. Everyone is welcome!

The evening will feature a screening of Pride vs Prejudice: The Delwin Vriend Story, followed by a panel discussion featuring Doug Stollery, Justice Julie Lloyd and Senator Paula Simons, all of whom feature in the film, to discuss this historical victory and its continued relevance today. Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Trans ID Clinic, a vital program run by Student Legal Services of Edmonton (SLS).

Tickets are $10.

St. Albert United Church

PIE Day Screening


Come celebrate PIE Day with the St. Albert United Church on March 14 for a screening of Pride vs. Prejudice with a special talkback following the film featuring Darrin Hagen (Writer/Director) and Douglas Stollery (Executive Producer).


PIE = Public, Intentional, Explicit Inclusion of 2SLGBTQIA+ People in affirming congregations.

Admission is by donation with funds to support St. Albert Pride.

Calgary Justice Film Festival

The Calgary Justice Film Festival takes place this Nov. 21-23 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We are thrilled to have "Pride vs. Prejudice: The Delwin Vriend Story" included in the FREE festival programming.

Our film screens on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 8:30pm with a post-film audience Q&A featuring Brendan MacArthur-Stevens from Blakes LLP and Amelia Newbert from Skipping Stone Foundation.

Special Screening in Halifax

Join us on November 18, 2024 from 7:00 - 8:30pm for a special film screening at The Back Door Theatre (2203 Gottingen Street, Halifax, NS), sponsored by McInnes Cooper.

Ticket details: Tickets are available by pay-what-you-can donation. Donations will be taken at the door. Although some seats may be available on the night of the screening, seats are limited and we ask that you confirm your attendance by email at vriendfilmmc@gmail.com.

Any ticket proceeds will be donated in support of The Rainbow Refugee Association of Nova Scotia.

Back by popular demand! Join us for featured screenings at The Roxy Theatre in Edmonton on August 15, August 25, and November 2.

  • Post-film discussion moderated by Darrin Hagen (Writer/Director) with panellists:

  • Kathryn Oviatt, Chief of the Commission and Tribunals of the Alberta Human Rights Commission.

  • Honourable Ronald Ghitter, former Senator and MLA who introduced Alberta’s first human rights legislation and co-founded the Dignity Foundation to promote tolerance and understanding.
